LAKEYDUGS 0
Well Lads, Havn't been on here for a while as I have been either at work or out diggin as you do, Went for a mooch yesterday up to an estate that we have permission on the owner was wanting rid of all foxes for the birds coming in, So wasn't a problem we done a few sets nothin doin good winter holes but never really prodiuce at this time of year, We carried onto a bigger set and bang we were in, This set is massive 1 of the biggest Ive ever worked before we could get our last net on the bolt hole which was a good 30 yards away a good vixen bolted (bastart) was ragin but our fault should have netted before entering lesxon learned, Anway we hit in it again and had a good dig at about 6 ft but was that shingle stuff like diggin through concrete would have been better of with a kangle ha, We moved on and checked a few surrounding earths all dead. As we were heading home we decided to try an old sewage treatment plant which lies at the side of the a railway banking, I entered my dog who had yet to really prove himself on dig as he was starting and stoppin and doin ma nut right in anyway he done the buis yesterday and got a mark on him at 6 ft but once we were about 2 ft down we had a cave in this is the first ive experianced and hopefully the last by the time I got down he was jaw to jaw both him and the quarry were dead. So a went and got pissed out ma brains last night as this was my first terrier which I reared from pup and to see him just start his career then bang was shit but such as life as they say. longdog 0
Damn sorry to hear about that Gash. This is a tough sport we do and when things like this happen it is a shocking reminder that things can and sometimes do go very wrong. It is always a shame to loose a good terrier or hound. I am sorry for your loss Mike Quote Link to post

Kane 2
Personaly I wouldnt enter a terrier into an earth at this time of year, birds coming or not, this time of year other methods are probably prefferable, the earths are just to dry and lacking in air I imagine they would almost suck the oxygen out of the terrier, not worth the risk not in June anyway.JMO of course. This doesnt take away anything from your brave dog and I am sorry the terrier was lost. Quote Link to post
