Fishing near Alnwick

Recommended Posts

I am going away with the girlfriend to Alnwick and while I'm up there I am wanting to participate in some beach fishing. I have the basic equipment but little idea. So I am wanting to know what rigs (simpler the better)and baits to use and what areas to try (I think we are stopping at Embleton). Also what fish I am likely to encounter.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

Last year I stopped at Alnmouth for a couple of days and it was fantastic. I had never been before but words cant describe how much pleasure it brought me.

On your way up stop off at Amble and call in the fishing shop there because the woman that runs it is a wealth of information and if she doesnt know it its not worth knowing.

I had never fished before and I bought a beach caster and reel from her and some other bits.

You will not go far wrong calling in on her or even ringing her before you go and talking to her.

The folks up there are so friendly you will be looked after.

It was my wife's birthday when we were there and I took her to the fish and chip shop at Alnwick the pollack & chips were great. Its just in my nature to be romantic.

Thanks for the replies, but didn't get chance to go fishing. After going stalking at the last minute the day before she wasn't too keen on me fishing on our break aswell. Beautiful part of the country though and the beaches look great, but didn't see anyone fishing while I was there.
