any one making their own tackle,or rods? not so long ago in the less afluent 70's and 80's we would all be making kit ready for the new season, maybe with a full blown resessin some of you guys may try it?

i make swimfeeders, floats ,disgorgers lures and a plethora of other bits.did you know that with sod all imagination you can nock up a decent swimfeeder from a large hair curler link swivel and a strip of lead? or a few feathers and a bit o paint and youl have some nice floats ?

get stuck in and show us what you can do! remember that if it works its good! asthetics come with time!

heres a few of my home made floats:

only kidding, very nice floats mate, looks the spitting image of my grandads tackle box, i dont know why more people dont make they're own tackle any more, must be that love of having all the gear that carp fishing has bought to us!

Those floats are brilliant mate, nothing quite beats catching fish on tackle you've made your self....You've got me thinking now, I was going to buy a few crow quill avon floats for the start of the river season but I'm going have a go at making a couple

heres a tip for you guys,if you want realy good sized quills for making floats try the high water mark on any beach, herring gull feathers are as big as goose and as they 'float' invariably end up on the beach! also for an eye in the base i just cut the bend off a big hook and glue and insert in to the base, easy eh?!!
