fishfish 17 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Share Posted May 7, 2009 any one making their own tackle,or rods? not so long ago in the less afluent 70's and 's we would all be making kit ready for the new season,maybe with a full blown resessin some of you guys may try it? i make swimfeeders,floats ,disgorgers lures and a plethora of other bits.did you know that with sod all imagination you can nock up a decent swimfeeder from a large hair curler link swivel and a strip of lead? or a few feathers and a bit o paint and youl have some nice floats ? get stuck in and show us what you can do! remember that if it works its good! asthetics come with time! heres a few of my home made floats: Quote Link to post

fishfish 17 Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 7, 2009 thanks for the kind words guys! i domt realy sell them but if we meet on a lakeside somewhere ide probably let you have one! to be honest itd be hard to price them,some times theres over 2 hours gone onto a float! poacher3161 pike lures are fun i carved this one last night: ive got a couple of lures that i wouldnt use as theyre pieces of art! ille try and get a few photo's,one of them has over 6 hours gone into it! fishfish 17 Posted May 8, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 8, 2009 heres a tip for you guys,if you want realy good sized quills for making floats try the high water mark on any beach,herring gull feathers are as big as goose and as they 'float' invariably end up on the beach! also for an eye in the base i just cut the bend off a big hook and glue and insert in to the base,easy eh?!!
