terrierguy 1
Hello people Now, I have kept and worked ferrets for a long time but I have always only ever kept jills. I am not one for breeding for the sake of it so only ever bred when i needed new working stock. If I didnt breed I took the little uns along to the vet for the jill jab. Due to the number of ferrets I now keep I dont really want to be forking out at the vets every year and I am finding it difficult to borrow a vasectomised hob so I am considering getting my own. The only problem is I dont have any more spare space to house a hob seperately so my question is can I keep them all together all year round and expect them to get on ok? I keep my jills in a reasonable sized court. I have heard of a few people who have kept hobs and jills together but have heard different reports on whether this is a good idea? What are your guys thoughts? TG Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
I kept a vasectomised hob in with entire jills & castrated hobs , didnt have a problem , i really think it depends on the hob to be honest , this one here was very docile in when in season Quote Link to post
The one 8,511
Ive two hutches each with a hob and five jills ,one complete hob and the others snipped and i swap the jills over between the hobs and dont have any bother but i reckon thats because there enough jills for him not to be ragging the same one all the time . So i'd go for it mate Quote Link to post
max abell 196
Hi mate we keep a vasectomised hob in with our 10 jills in a big ferret court all year round and have done for many years never had a problem we get more hassel with phantom pregnancies with the older jills than the hob he just does his bit and moves on to the next one that comes in season and although the jills dont hurt each other the squeeking upsets the wife and kid so we are gonna get the 2 main culprits spayed this year which will stop this Quote Link to post

My hob is a bit of a pain amnd won't leave the jills alone season or not so I have had to keep him seperate. atb Quote Link to post
