Htaylor 0
Ok, so about 8pm yesterday, i took my dog for a walk, she's about 10 years old, and she was fine, even better than usual actually, running around and playing, got home at about 8:30pm where she had a drink and lay down, about 30-45 minutes later, i went outside to lock up, and she'd had diarrhea in her bed, and alot of it, so as i got her out to clean her and the bed, she looked really weak on her legs and was wobbly, as i was washing her she just kept laying down and i had to pick her up to get her to stand, also, there was some wind and we used water to wash her (obviously maybe, but want to be clear), anyway, she wasn't shivering at all, so i took her straight inside, dried her, warmed her up, put blankets over her, i looked at her gums and they were really pale, which i think is a sign of shock?, also i noticed that any moisture in her mouth was a little frothy and when i pinched her skin it took a few seconds to go back to normal, so i also thought dehydration, i got a syringe and squirted some water down her throat, a little bit every 5-10 minutes for about an hour or more(i offered her water which she declined, and also some milk and honey, thought it might be more appetising for her, which she also declined), about 9:30-10pm now. Between 10-10:30pm she seemed to be picking up, responded to her name a little, which she wasn't doing before, she was like this for about 15 minutes then she started getting stomach cramps i think, after about 20 minutes, these seemed to stop, she went weak and was not responding to her name again, then after 10-20 minutes she seemed to get little spasms down the side of her body, and her mouth was opening and closing slowly, after doing this a coupe of times she appeared to die in the middle of, or at the end of one of these little spasms. Now it's probaby too generalised symptons but i was wondering if anyone else had experianced this and if they knew what it was. As an after note, as she started to get worse again we attempted to organise to get her to a vets but she died before we could do so. We was a little adamant taking her to a vets straight away, as she hurt her leg a couple of years back which cost us a whopping 2700£ And i don't think that was paid off til not so long ago. Thanks anyway.

Irish Setter 1
Sorry to hear about your dog Sounds a little bit like bloat which can take old deep chested breeds, the stomach twists inside the abdomen and can just happen for no apparent reason in older dogs, in younger dogs it can be caused by feeding a dog a big meal just before or just after strenous exercise. This normally shows as extreme pain and cramping with a very tender swollen abdomen. Setter
