Holdaway 2
Lady, er OK. Woman who stables her horses here complained of A rat in the other stall where the straw, hay and feed is kept. Baited a Victor using Sakarat monitoring bait. That's gotta hurt... Sorry about the quality but the pics were taken on the phone H Quote Link to post

Holdaway 2
nice one how did he set the trap off without touching the bait plate? thanks brecon3 I had set it very fine by adjusting the locking pin, so either he/she had superfast reactions and was still caught, or he/she sneezed on it... Steve Albano 21
Is the wood box designed so that the trap fits snugly inside the box? And do you anchor the trap inside the box? I love the modified rat trap. The position the rat is in when it gets whacked by the kill bar is so important to a efficient kill. Quote Link to post

Yes Steve, the box is a tight fit, I seat the trap in location and simply push the box down on top of it. I use 3mm stainless steel bar for the chin bar because I get it free. I don't anchor the trap in the box in any way, as when a there is a catch I belive death to be instantaneous. This is still my favourite mod of any kind, snareman really did put some thought into them. If I thought there was a chance of losing a trap to a predator such as a fox running off with a mouse or rat attached, then I would anchor them using either cable and stake, or a long pin pushed through a drilled hole in the trap. I use the wire mesh guide even when using a box like this as next time the trap might be relocated on the side of a chicken coop or similar, that's when the trap get housed in a plastic box made from the bottom of a milk container. I have never had a miss or misfire, or a partial catch using these, they are deadly. All the best H Quote Link to post
