dave mac 58
well i had a walk out this morning with the lurcher, she had abit of a tumble yesterday so i kept her on the slip most of the time, i went to see if the cubs were still at the same earth as they were 2wks ago, they had moved on further into the wood, just a 3 hole place, no dead birds, rabbits ,any thing, but you could tell they were in, flattend blue bells, crap, bit of a kick out, well at least there still about i thought, we carried on me and the dog and ended up on a keepered place, there is a little earth there that i came across many years back, i thought sod it im going down to see if its in use, well i got to within 30-40yds of the earth, and just as i looked up { its on a bank or slope} a vixen barked, and i kid you not it was a black fox, it was running away from me and the earth about 30yds ahead, the lurcher seen it, i held the slip lead firm, i could,nt believe what i was see, ing, allthough it was moving away from me i got agood look at it, it was barking as it went away, i stood up hill from the earth for a while to see if the cubs would come out, keeping an eye out for this fox, but nothing came out so i took a few snaps of the earth, it is full of dead pheasants, wings, bodies, as i walked away there were dead birds every where up to 50 odd yds, i thought the vixen is doing these cubs ok, the one in the other wood not so good, ive seen black fox,s in some ones yard many years back but this is the first and more than likely the last i will see one in the wild.
