Hunting for rabbits

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Just wanted to get your experience of when is the best time to hunt for rabbits, early morning or in the evening?

I have been out over the past few weeks in the morning (about 05:30) but a soon as the rabbits see us they're off!

Thanks ya'll.

the evening after a fine day suits me and the rabbits. Too often at this time of year everything is absolutely dripping with a heavy dew in the early morning which is a pain if your stalking and bellycrawling, the rabbits dont like wet feet and nor do I.

Cheers Davy,

I was reading your post from today, you obviously know what you're doing. I'm going to attempt the 'dusk' hunt next time, I might have better luck.

I genearally find any good sunny day brings the bunnies out, but best time is in the evening, get sat down where the rabbits are and wait for them to arive, with a bit of feildcraft you'll be able to see the best places to sit, dont get disheartend, keep at them. ;)

if a guy wants to get up in the middle of the night and put on waterproofs and wellies to shoot a rabbit that I can shoot in the evening wearing trainers and sunhat, then thats his choice. Ive done plenty of both and I know what I prefer. Meeeooooow.

you obviously dont go out in all weathers, i have seen many a bunnie with wet paws & bagged them with wet paws.

im not sure what the bunnies are like round your area, but bunnies with feet? are you by any chance by a nuclear reactive centre?. because that would freak me out!!

hello davy, feet mate. read G S Waters snaring part1 avoiding problems or anything that describes signs of rabbits like droppings, scratching or footprints. Ever heard of a lucky rabbits foot. And there was me thinking you knew it all.
