BLUCHER 1
How many of you take the kids on your ferreting, mooching, shooting, fishing, or whatever trips you like. Like a lot of you ive seen so many changes to fieldsports, and unfortunately not for the better. Gone are the days when you could get up and go to a properly organised coursing meet, thats one of the biggest piss offs in my life. Nowadays were often accompanied by my mates sons aged 3 and 4 not always the perfect solution, but i see it as a way of protecting the future of what sport we have got left. Ive drawn the line at taking my 2 year old grandson just yet, setting nets and changing nappies just dont go together.
Guest WILF
Allways take the kids when practical.......except when out with the shotgun, kids and shotguns just dont mix IMHO.

Guest hyperion
my parents made me go to church every sunday pretty much from the day i was born, by the time i was fifteen i decided that i neither liked going to church or belived in any of it, and after a few months of it being more and more difficult for them to get me to go i finally turned round and told them i didnt belive in it and wasnt going to church any more! and yet.......... my dad being an out and out anti, anti guns, anti fishing, anti any field sports (yet he still eats fish and meat????) i was never aloud any thing to do with fishing or shooting! by the time i was 13 i was chasing sparrows and starlings with home made bow arrows and keeping my fishing gear hidden at the back of mothers gardening shed, thanks mum , i bought my first air rifle on my seventeenth birthday and ive not looked back since! i love shooting and fishing and im passionate about all things countryside, from hunting to hedge laying, but as far as im concerned you can poke organised religion! so to me its more nature than nurtcher, and ive met plenty of people who have said to me "me dad used to take me shooting but i never got into it" if i ever have kids i hope they love field sports as much as i do but ill not be forcing them to do too much too soon! cheers hyperion Edited May 3, 2009 by hyperion

lurchergrrl 1,441
I used to take my twins in their double pram with my then toddler son out walking all over the place. I challenge any of you blokes to push a double pram through muddy fields and woods, having to stop to feed the mob, or change nappies on your knee or wipe mud from your toddlers face after he goes arse over tea kettle down a slope ... all in the name of getting out with your dog I grew up in a city thinking all hunting is bad. Meat is annonymous and comes in tidy little packages. Then my pet lurcher loped out of the woods with a bunny and gave it to me live to hand. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, changed for me in an instant. My kids really love going out mooching about. Long may it continue.
diggerman 0
My eldest daughter (10yrs) goes beating, she comes out with the terriers ratting and next season she will come on her 1st dig, she rides a horse and wants to join the local hunt. She loves being out among the thick of it all. I have 2 other daughters who have no interest in the dogs or the countryside what so ever. I think you can only encourage them if they have an interest in the first place.

mattydski 560
As often as is practicable, but never to interfere with school work..they dont come lamping or stalking. They have been bought up around firearms, so pay little if any interest in rifles, air rifles or shotguns...it isnt a novelty to them. They are good shots with a rifle, but not at live game yet.. For me..........i'll wait abit..
