david2363 42
Can't knock Joe for heart and workrate, but the lack of power and a real knockout punch was a serious problem for him at the top level. The truth is Joe out worked and slapped most of his opponents into defeat. http://www.boxingnews24.com/2008/04/is-calzaghe-overrated/ Right oh, then. He slapped Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins & Jones Jr to defeat. Still top class boxers, and the first two were in their prime. You're right Maltenby - he did slap those guys to defeat. That's the way Joe faught.

THink most people take issue with the fact calzaghe fought the first 2 ( lacy/kessler ) in their prime...but they were not proven over time world class fighters......the 2 proven over time world class fighters he fought ( hopkins/jones jr ) he waited till they was at the end of their career before fighting them. I think joe punched plenty hard enough to beat these 2 in their prime and thats the tragedy of the calzaghe career for me,the fact we will never know !....

Blakloks 5
Fact is hatton made it easy for pac man by walking into everything if the game plan was right he would have been to strong for him but it was all wrong. As for joe he should come out and shut carl froch up oh wait hes over 30 and aint in his prime just like hopkins is 42 and still beating the the best in his division at that age!!!! Likewise stig ....you speak from the heart and thats to be respected... In my view hatton is still the best p4p in the uk at this time.....ive never disputed he,s a very good fighter i just dont go along with the legendary status some give him.....with hatton out of the picture id say david haye is the number 1 in the uk although i feel its a shame he had to move up to an unnatural weight as he could have been cruiserweight champion for as long as he wanted....but like most succesful cruisers sooner or later you have to fight at heavyweight to make the real money....but i rate haye very highly....john murray is a good fighter as is jamie moore who just had a very good win, might just be a little late for jamie who seems to have been around for ever.....kevin mitchells a talented kid but im probably being biased as he,s a local lad....but yes, david haye id rate top pound for pound although i dont think he will beat either klitchko... Im a mma fan myself mate although i think the ufc are making a mockery of it at the moment im sure it will go from strength to strength....i think its struggling through a change at the moment what with the end of the shamrocks, couture, hughes etc era its crying out for a new " face of the ufc " Anyway.....all the best as usual

It broke my heart to see an old and ill version of him lose to Mir. Your right about haye he is good but i just cant stand the poncy arrogant twat but a good boxer he is.
