martin 332
I had a stroke back in November, and, subsequently was diagnosed with a 'Patent Foramen Ovale' which is basically a hole in the heart, and, apparently this is a big cause of migraine of which I get 3 yes 3 different types, one is called Migraine Variant which causes me to lose control of the left side of my body. But,I do get what might be called normal migraine which as Kay says starts with flashing/dancing lights in the periphery of my vision which then comes across and virtually makes me blind for about 20-30mins,and,then I get the headache(if I haven't taken a couple of pills when it first starts),and, then the sickness which can be very debilitating. The other one has been with me since the stroke and is pretty much there all of the time, and,is a mild form of the dancing lights in the left side of my vision.I have got to see a Neuroligist soon and she is going to try some new and different medication out on me,so,fingers crossed.I am also having the hole in the heart closed at some point in the future(sooner rather than later hopefully),and, that could stop the migraines,it does on a lot of people that have the operation.I have had them since I was 18 and I am 51 now so I have learned to live with them really.................Martin.
