hello all

The time has come for me to try and get some new permission.... i have been going with a friend to his permission for the last 20 years or so,but we both agree its time for some new pastures...

I want somewhere to do the rabbit with the ferrets and lamp with the dog..he wants to do more shooting etc etc.

How do you get your land etc etc... ? we dont mind doing a bit of travelling and staying away a few days at a time etc etc..we just want to get back into the big numbers of bunnies that we used to have years ago.

I know the usual ways apply like going to the farm and asking etc etc... but theres got to be other ways .

if you prefer to pm me your replies thats best i think.

Normally if i would like to have some new permission the id go around with my mate and knock on the door and ask if they have any problems with rabbits or foxes. If so then have a good chat to him and tell him how you control them and also tell him you do it free of charge(if you do). When the season comes around then ask him if its ok to go ferreting, if he says yes then ask him if he would like to join you, gain his trust in you, then by showing he that you can respect the land and the animals hes sure to let you go lamping.

And for the shooting, then make sure you have on of these that he signs

It's basically hard work, and, lots of time spent asking lots of people......sometimes over and over again. As soon as you do get a new piece of permission, then you go to all of the adjoining land and tell them that you have been asked to control the rabbits on their neighbours land, and,if they see a lamp on their boundary not to be concerned as it will only be you, and, don't forget to show them the permission slip the farmer has signed for you.You will be amazed at how many of the neighbours will then say.....oh,could you have a pop at our bunnies as well please, and, then hopefully it starts to snowball. As soon as you are established then people will hear of what you are like(reliability is paramount)they will contact you to help them......................good luck with it all..........Martin. ;)

thanks for that chaps

that is how we have always done it in the past...we had more permission a few years ago but let it go to other lads etc etc..its now hard to get anymore local to where we are..so we need to travel further to get new land.

I dont think there is farm/golf course or any plot of land within a radius of 25 miles from us that has not been lamped /ferreted/shot and poached to the max... .every farm we ask at already has someone iether shooting or looking after it when you ask...it seems everyone else is trying to get permission also.

so i think unless we travel were stuck...we already do a 100 mile round trip as it is to our usual place..so its looking like time to start looking in other directions from Rotherham/Sheffield...

Type in 'horse livery yards' and where ever you live i.e. 'horse livery yards sussex' into google, you will get lists of them just knock up a smart email and send it around to all of them. Ive got a couple of bits from doing this.

Also if you can contact alot of large gardening or grounds maintenance firms as they often come across clients wanting rabbits controlling or rabbits eating anything they are planting. It benifits them as they are seen to be doing something about the problem and you still get your permission. Ive just got alot of permission this way and its consistant as any new jobs that they get wth rabbit problems is passed on.

I would go along with that, but take your time.........nothing worse than the new bloke who is asking when he can start doing this or that from the very 1st time he comes along.

Those c**ts who just keep on, drive ya fecking nuts!
