hunterlass15 0
He is now 20 weeks old and doing really well. As you can see from the pics, he has GWP markings but has the behaviour of your typical nutcase of a springer spaniel. He is sitting at any distance and will stay until told to get on. He retrieves anything thrown for him and leaves as soon as told. He is walking to heel on the lead and off the lead to the HEEL command. Have just applied for my SGC which will be arriving within the next two weeks which will mean I can get him out used to the guns I have got him livestock safe over the last month with everything, he has deal with it really well. Two milestones to get over now, firstly he wont leave my side and only every wanders about 10-15 yards. Secondly getting him a point, hes pointed a duck which i don't mind and marked rabbit burries which im not too fussed about. ATB Jen Quote Link to post

Yes that was my thought, to be honest I would quite like him to be quite small but with the working capability of a GWP. ATB Jen Quote Link to post

lilvixen 26
Cracking looking puppy, can't believe how little he looks like an ESS, mind you I've not had much to do with GWP's pups. Good luck with him Edited April 30, 2009 by lilvixen Quote Link to post
Dave C 63
Smart looking dog pup, will be intresting to see what size he makes, with that breeding he should make a cracking hunter of game. Dave. Quote Link to post
hunterlass15 0
Thanks for all your comments folks, really appreciate it This is just an update on Brynn which I am really pleased about. Was walking home with Brynn on friday with him walking to heel off the lead quietly to see if we could find anything. I saw a cock pheasant wander across the path in front of us at about yards so I told Brynn to get on, he wandered in front rangeing about 10-15 yards and we walked about 75 yards when he picked up the scent. He retraced the pheasants movements, going round in circles to make sure he had got the right scent. He traced it into some long grass and some thick trees and shrubery. I could hear the pheasant about, he was sniffing around by which time I had come to a stop, and he laid down - my fault! I pointed to the gap in the hedge where the pheasant had entered and told him to get on and find, he sniffed and edged in a little closer and this is when it happened. He stood there, posed straight from his shoulders to the tip of his tail, nose in the air sniffing and raised his right paw about 5 inches off the floor and remained there (the stillest I have ever seen him )until I told him to flush, he was a bit nervy as he could hear it stepping on twigs and he was unsure to enter so I followed him in and proceeded to flush it. HE HAD JUST POINTED!! I gave him an awful lot of praise and he then moved onto to retrace it, I wasnt expecting him to do this but I just called him off and back to heel and then went home as it started to pour down with rain. The one thing I was gutted about was that my phone broke on Wednesday and so I didnt have a camera with me but I was pleased enough to see it with my own eyes and it was extremely satisfying I am absolutely over the moon with him and hope this now is a big step forward, I will get him out there again today but wont be pushing him.
