Guest busterdog
There are still people who have pure Stevens stuff,...they are good terriers,...some are culls, and some are good, just like any line,...some are harder, some are bayers...Stevens favoured a bayer anyway,...one things for sure, the dogs that ive seen from this line that do make the grade, are stayers!...i think the dogs got a little small compared to the older stuff in the end, but there you go... Kye,.. Does this sound familiar Mr Nuttal DE'JAVU, i think the same crap goes around and around I dont know why you quoted my post with that, nor do i understand your comment mate!?... Thats a nice looking white and black type there...surly though, BOTH parents would have to have white blood IN them for it to appear in a litter again?... Kye every one that knows nuttal will no he bred his dogs smaller and smaller for the american market ,Nick never did, he was a digging lad producing dogs for a true cause. As for the black and white dog "who knows" As i have sayed before he only has one bitch there and its not black and its never had pups,so someone is full of shit some where !!! Guest busterdog
The dam to the pup is about 5 years old, from when Nick was with the dorset hunt. I know this because i am friends with the breeder and one of his mates owns the sire. the white coat is a throw back from Cocker's breeding Webby, nick has been away from the Portman hunt in dorset for four/five years he left the south dorset in 1991, he was at the portman for nine years, so you do the maths. Webby i'm not nocking you mate but the facts speak for themselves if your dog is keen then god bless it but get some facts right pls Edited May 1, 2009 by busterdog Quote Link to post
Kye 77
Ah, ok Busterdog, got yah mate!...yeah, Nuttal does seem to have bred them smaller for some of the lads over here, but there seems to be some real nice dogs outta Nuttal gear over here!...i got my first 'American bred' digging terrier not long ago, and it was bred buy lads that cull VERY hard, and work there dogs harder, and i beleave he is mostly Nuttal stuff...he is smaller, around 12" and 16lbs at the moment, but he is only 6 months...love the little guy, FULL of himself, and a great character! Regarding the comment i made about Mr Stevens going smaller with his stock, i wasnt 'having a go' or being a twat, its just that the older gear from him was bigger, and i know guys who kennels are based/full of dogs from gear from Stevens, and some of them say that Nicks dogs used to be bigger,...i like the type, even if they do seem like scruffy wombles..lol. Kye... Quote Link to post

Kye 77
Guys, the dogs i have are far from SMALL, i have one male at 16" and 23lbs, and his son, which is 17" and 30lbs...ive seen dogs from more recent Stevens gear, and they are smaller, and Nick himself didnt like a bigger dog...nothing wrong with that, and i am NOT saying the guy dosnt know terriers, anyone who does/would, would be a fool!!!.... RK, you can put any pics of my dogs up mate...i cant speak for FR though... The dogs i have are not hard...just good bayer/mixers, but the bigger black dog is not one to get smashed...it was his first season (just gone) and so i worked him light...on a sunday, he was dug to at 6 foot, with a 25lbs coon...he was to ground for 3 hrs....the next day, he worked 3 coons for around 45 minutes under a concrete floor after three white dogs couldnt get the job done...he will be a reliable dog, and bays well.
