Guest chook
It all depends on your local council on what they would do in this situation, First they will start mediation - between you and the person who complained, if that dont work, then the person who complained will have to fill out a diary, if the council think there is a problem, they will set up noise monitors in the house of the person who complained, after that if they think theres a problem, you will be sent a notice to comply, if you still dont do anything, then they will take you to court, either the dogs could be taken from you, or you will be fined, up to £5,000 and further fines of up to £500 till you sort it, http://www.respect.gov.uk/members/article.aspx?id=7546 http://www.defra.gov.uk/ENVIRONMENT/noise/pdf/barkingdog.pdf If you don't take steps to solve the problem, andyour local authority receives complaints about the noise your dog is making, the authority will investigate the complaint. The local authority may seek to resolve the problem by mediating between you and the complainants, but where it does not do so, or where such mediation is unsuccessful, and the authority is satisfied that the noise amounts to a statutory nuisance, it will serve you with an abatement notice requiring the noise to be reduced to an acceptable level. If you fail to comply with an abatement notice, you could face prosecution and, if convicted, a fine of up to £5,000 (and possibly further daily fines of up to £500 for each day on which the offence continues after conviction). terrierbitch 1
i do feel bad for them being woken up at 6 am and your right i wouldnt like it!but i have worked hard with my dogs and i know that they woulnt bark for no reason, they must of been disturbed, and then if they was peering over the fence there going to bark even more.like i said earlier iv slept out twice since owning them and i can honestley say you hardley ever hear a peep out them, the only time is if someone intrudes or they see a cat!if they didnt bark then they wouldnt be much of a dog!what i am pi***d off about aswell is i found chocolate biscuits in the run,so they have been in my garden to give them that, and i work hard at getting them fit and feed them on working dog food and sometimes rabbit,i dont appriciate them feeding them anything let alone chocolate.in my eyes they will think that there going to get fed when they see them now.and proberly whine at them when there outside.iv not said anything to them yet but will have a gentle word, first il appolagise for them barking then il ask them kindley to stay out my garden and not feed them again. Swampy 147
Hey you should be greatful you got a letter. A polite one at that. I suggest that the letter was written so that the writer had a copy/proof of the fact that they had voiced their concerns. In which case, unless you adress the situation I fear that it will not be the last you hear of the issue. I don't wish to sound judgemental but in my opinion it was quite a long time to leave your dogs. I would suggest that you very politely apologise and suggest to them how you will make sure that they don't do it again. Be honest, who wants to wake up to a barking dog on a Sunday morning, especially if they know you've had a night out and a good nights kip?! Good Luck Brgds Swampy Nining 1st this week

MikeTheDog 153
....So, it would seem that you and some of the respondents to this thread think your neighbour is out of order and being unreasonable to complain in a polite and dignified manner.....Glad I don't live next to you... ....Call round with a couple of bottles and a box of choccies and ask them to house sit next time you're out all night..
