question for saluki lads on coats of the saluki ?

im just wondering how do you sometimes get them salukis with long coats , which need clipping ect , what is it in the breeding that makes some saluki x dogs have a coat like that instead of just the featherd ears and tail ect . do you have to line certain type of saluki crosses for them , like 1st cross to 3/4 or 1st to 1st ect , or is it just the way they come sometimes?

Some of the old "Saluki" X's had a bit more than Saluki and Greyhound in them; i.e. Bedlington, Deerhound, Collie, etc. So a throwback now and again was inevetible.

i think a frist cross saluki grey to a 3/4saluki 1/4grey would be good coursing dogs

He is a greyxwhippetxbeddyxcollie cannot remember the exact ratios, but there is 50% grey in there.

right here goes i have read that a first cross saluki grey WONT have featherd ears / tails?

 

Is this correct?

 

If so then what crosses would be featherd?

iv had first crosses with feather ears and tails its just how they throw

iv also had them look like pure greyhounds
