My family are true romany gypsies. My nan was born at ledbury and lived and travelled all over in a bowtop with the horses doing hop picking. I live on a site by worcester in a trailer and thats the way of life we love. Snatch is slightly far fetched but only a bit. Most irish travellers have got permenent sites they live on in statics and tourers abd go travelling in the summer or when kids are off school and find work along the way. Its just in your blood. I know a few & mostly they are ok, couple as dodgy as they come but then I know others just the same. We have 3 come up for scrap, they got a brand spanking new transit, told them scrap price must be good & he said ' good what you can get on finance these days luv' we had a laff about that as well. But they always know we leave stuff out the front- if we havent they put a card in letter box for us. Live & let live- they know I help with rescue & missing dogs. I know they sometimes know about the missing dogs, but so do the druggies waiting for 'reward' posters going up I had a family of travellers as friends when I was a lot younger- they had different way but we had a laugh & spent many hours together. She had more freedom than me but her mam was scarier than mine & rules that had to be obeyed- they were old romany's as well. Link to post Share on other sites

woz 260 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Share Posted April 27, 2009 i had this conversation with a well established traveller family only last week.....p***y comes from the term turn pike or road toll.were travellers would stop and sell either tin work or pegs etc etc.........finney said and i quote.." call me what the feck you like but dont call me a gypo again ya twat".....i come from a old circus family so i am exepted by most in these circles....except mr arrowsmith who dosnt much care for me..its probably a personel thing though ..this man started the collie x trend with good old hancock.... They don't pay taxes, f**k up fields ware they camp leaving behind all their shit and we have to pay for it. You can paint a rosey picture of them if you like, but to me there just hedge shitters.
