Skinny hob

Recommended Posts

Well my problem is that iv got a hob thats back end has all of a sudden got really skinny. He used to be a fat little b*****d (even though he hardly ate) but now it seems that he has lost it all and is just bones around the stomach area. He is fed on james wellbeloved dry and he refuses to eat meat (of any sort) he wont even ferret as he tries to befriend rabbits... :wallbash: He is having the odd nibble at the dry food now and again but not enough to keep him at a good weight. Iv started putting a small amount of olive oil on his food (like with underweight dogs) and even mixing it with some ferretone but still no results.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

you got a photo of him like he is now not an old one ?

sometimes when they loose the winter weight & shed there winter coat they can seem a little skinny, but if your overly worried then i think you need to see a vet , especially if he isnt eating, he could have a tooth problem making it uncomfortable to eat hence the weight loss

He's about 2 at the most and he's complete and not with other ferrets as he fights with them. It could just be winter weight i'll try and get a pic as im just goin out to see them. Stealthy thats my signature :clapper:

it could also be due to the time of year.my hob has gone down to skin and bone and is hardlys eating.if the hob is complete like mine is its weight loss is normally caused by breeding condition.mine has just fathered eleven kitts to john-b's jill and hopefully he has done the job on my two jills.just keep an eye on it mate,if youre still not happy with him seek advice from youre local vet

Check his mouth see he's no got a bad tooth hes a bit young for much else apart from starving himself if he smells jills and living alone there cant be other ferrets grabbing all the grub .
