both guns have proven accuray, and the tikka and sako barrels are identical in build quality,

just the sako has a higher spec finish hence the price difference,On a budget get tikka, if not on a tight budget get the sako...

I looked at both last year. I thought that I would only be able to afford a Tikka T3, which is a good rifle, and not be able to afford a Sako. Then Sako produced the 85 and all the little 75's on the shelves in gunshops across the country were discounted. Thus bringing them into my price range :clapper: .

I spoke to all sorts of folks who had both, some of them were gunsmiths and rifle makers. They all said, without exception, "If you can afford it, buy the Sako".

The same parent company owns both companies, but the finish on the rifles is very different. For example if you get both rifles in synthetic, look at how much more rigid the forestock is on the Sako. If you do want to buy the Tikka try one with a laminated stock! I have a friend over in Banbury who has a Norman Clark tricked out Laminated Tikka in .270 WSM that is a real shooter.

I bought a Sako 75 finnlight in 6.5x55 and am really, really happy that I did  . Just off the bipod, with 140gn federal powershock's i can produce 3/4" groups consistantly. I think it was tremedous value, and if you buy Gunmart, I am sure you can find yourself a bargain too!

Shooter19,

i had a sako finnlight had no end of problems with it grouping was .. well couldn't get it to group unless i put 58gr through it, anything ells and i was looking at 4-5" groups. sent it off to be looked at by gun smith he couldn't fined anything wrong with it changed mods the lot still shot like shit .. so got rid of it. a mate has a T3 and that shoots like a dream so id spend my money there.. if money is no object then id look at a Blaser that's what i'm shooting now and its the dogs' (R93 pro in camo) ideal stalking rifle.

Hope that helps

best NS

the sako's are noted for their accuracy as are tikka, there will be a few bad ones that get out there, any gun that does not group should be taken back to the dealer for exchange or sorting...

good luck with your choice.

I had a tikka t3 hunter .243 it was an amazing gun and accounted well the reason i changed it soley is i wanted .308 and i wanted synthetic stock because the wood did swell and fade whilst on a weeks trip in scotland, however when i returned home it dried fine and oiled with the correct oil was back to normal.

Cost to me would say buy tikka unless you have the spare cash.
