Nope you don't have to take the stock of. Drill a hole 0.5mm larger then the core of the thread of the stud. Countersink it a little bit. Then get some 2 component epoxy glue ( Patex neural or similar ) put that on the stud and screw it in. Make sure, that the hole in the stud is at right angle to the stock.

Wait for the glue to cure.

No need to put a thread in the wood mate. the QI studs are self cutting and if not the epoxy sorts the rest out. never had one come loose yet

don't have to remove stock................but would be highly reccomended to do so.

if you slip with your drill and end up hitting the air cylinder with the best part of 200 bar in it

feck me thats going to hurt.

be careful and good luck.

all the best

oh aye...............and put some masking tape on the stock where you are going to drill....to save any damage !! also makes it easier to mark and see the position of the stud.

For starters, you only have to drill the as deep as the length of the stud. So I took a bit of brains here for granted, fair enough. Second thing is even if you hit the air tank with the drill and it was under pressure you would have to drill a bit to get that thing punctured and if you did, the thing in not going to explode like a party balloon either. so please keep it real. I had a dive centre for 8 years and had a few hoses and things blow at 300 bar and although it is noisy, its not semtex.
