rattin 0
Hey terriermen and women, Im about to get my start in this earthy business. Im in the process of looking for a jrt, fit for some earth work. I dont have the money to buy a pup and was thinking of adopting one. Im looking at the adoptees in my area (North Carolina, USA) and most of them are 3-6 years of age whats the oldest a dog can be trained to go to ground? Also any advice for the beginning terrierman? Terrierman.com suggest that a terrier should be smaller than 14 inches across the chest it seems that all the jrts in America are just to damn big are there any others breeds available in the USA suitable for earth work/ squirrel hunting? dev 226
firstly, you cant "train" a dog to work, you can only give it the oppertunity and encouragement to do it.if it is in the dog to work then you have a chance of getting a 3/4 year old to work. if its not in the dog then it wont matter what age you try to start him at. best of luck with it anyway .hope you get something to start with.
