Bantam cock 1
Plastic pipes are ok if you cut the bottem out so the fox can feel the earth under there feet. As long as you make the entrance so that only fox use it. Quote Link to post
wheaten 47
Had plenty of Fox's out of plastic pipe's, can't see the advantage of feckin bout cuttin bottom out , plus it would weaken pipes! Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Ive always found it best to have at least one bend or at best a right angle in artificials. If it doubles as a breeding earth ,then a short pipe off the bend will act as the"oven".Straight pipes dont seem to hold that well around us unless they are in deep cover and the ends sheltered from wind.Constructions we have used have ranged from smooth chimney liners to timber sleepers with a stone top .Experimented with concrete blocks 2 seasons ago and they held well .The down side was the rough block took the shoulder skin off most terriers worked in them .Some of the best artificials are sighted on south facing banks bordering covert. These are the traditional V shape with an oven at the point .Where possible artificials should run slightly up hill to prevent them getting water logged ,which will only be used when a fox is pressed ,hunted . To prevent access from unwanted users ,the entrance can be narrowed down to 5-6 inches with stones . Good hunting next season . Quote Link to post

J Darcy 5,871
Obviously, for game bird protection.... basically dig a trench that will cover the pipes by 18" -2 foot....Longer the better....somewhere that will remain dry over the winter months..... Quote Link to post
