Guest SJM
I wouldnt tar all landrover boys with the same brush though just from watching that video, some of the guys who do it are very organised and efficient and just go in the fields, do the job quickly and back out again with the minimum of noise or fuss, as they dont have permission to do what they like there is more incentive for them to keep things quiet and low key Quote Link to post
Guest WILF
i walk all day and night for my quarry lazy man sport hunting from land rover if you ask me Not having a go but can you explain how you would walk 8000 acres in a night? Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
If its a windy night he flaps his kilt and flies round WILF if its still and calm he uses one of those air board things you know like in Highlander 2? Us Scots are cutting edge when it comes to hunting tactics you know Quote Link to post
FenMaster 2
There is nothing lazy about driving the fields. You get on more game which after all is the reason we go lamping isn't it? from a motor you see everything nice and close not like lamping on foot where you may be 200 yards from where your quarry is caught. I go out lamping to see the dogs work not to keep fit it depends on how experienced you are with a lamp in your hands i suppose once youve got game moving weather it be rabbits hares deer fox whatever it keeps moving you know the saying softly softly catch a monkey you will see more id give the game up if i had to race around ground in a vehicle noisey as feck and scaring game away from the next field and so on at the end of the day its wild animals we are hunting and the more noise you make and more light you create the more likely they are to head for home Quote Link to post
Guest gyppo
iam sure i put some posts up of the same person walking have they been took down Quote Link to post
Guest Catcher
There is no doubt that if you have a lot of ground to cover then working the dogs from a motor is the way forward............my permission is extensive but I am lucky in so much as I have my gamekeeper to drive and I just sit on the back and work my dog What a foolish remark. The point of working lurchers is to work the ground and the dog to get it to peak fitness .This is how you and the dog learn and bonds. Its not about how much ground you have. Its about how much you are willing to put into the dog.We will walk our dogs till we think they or ourself have had it.We all have ground we cant cover in one outing.I pity you dogs they must be unfit Driveing all day.catcher.
