beagle foot trouble

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone can help me.I got a lovely beagle pup off lucky and love the little fella(3 months old).Unfortunately his feet are starting to bow quite badly, one in particular is quite bad.Its as if his tendons are too slack???

Can anyone diagnose the symtoms and is it something to be worried about?????

Thanks lads/lasses :good:

sounds like he is getting too much calsum. have known it happen in a litter of lurcher pups a mate of mine had. he thought it was ricketts but he took them to the vets and was told he was feeding them to good. i know its hard to belive but the diet was changed and the pups came right. their bones were growing to fast and their joints wernt devoloping quick enough.

my nerves do be gone too when watching pups grow.

at twelve weeks he is still very young.

if you put him on a good dry puppy food it should straightin it self out.

when they are growing quick the legs can go a bit wonky until they straighten out.

at six months you should be happy again.

not really keen on given pups eggs now and again they are great.

a few on here might be able to give you some more advice.

all the best

WELL P& G

I WOULDNT WORRY TOO MUCH ........................ I BELIVE MOST FAULTS IN A DOG ARE GENETIC , RATHER THAN FEED PROBLEMS ,.ESPECIALLY AS YOU SEEM TO BE FEEDING A GOOD VARIED DIET ................SO WHAT EVER WILL BE , WILL BE !!!

PERSONALLY ...I WOULD DROP THE TINNED PUP FOOD AND GO FOR THE BEST BAGGED STUFF AVAILABLE , I HAVE HAD GOOD SUCESS REARING ON BETA PUPPY , I ALSO ADD BONE MEAL ................. A TIP I PICKED UP FROM THE ITALLION STALLION .......................... WHO IMO IS THE BEST PUPPY RAISER IVE EVER SEEN  AND IVE SEEN SOME OF THE SO CALLED BEST !!!.................. BUT DONT TELL HIM AS HIS HEAD WILL SWELL :icon_eek: ............... YEP EVEN MORE THAN USUAL

ALL THE BEST DUCKWING ;)

Every single hound puppy goes through the old bent leg phase mate .Ill wager there are folds of skin down the legs and back of neck ,its a growing thing .Legs will straighten 100%.

I wouldnt agree with that mate sure they get folds of skin but thier legs shouldn't be bowing jmo
