adbirdy 14
All, Through the colder months we normally feed more meat than dry food but when it gets warmer and the flies start to get a bit more active, we tend to feed more dry food. I have been feeding the James Wellbeloved food which the ferrets seem to like, but I have seen some Chudleys dry food at half the price of the other stuff and wondered if any of you lads and lasses had any experience of using the Chudleys and what you thought of it. Cheers for any opinions Ade Quote Link to post
Malt 379
Don't feed dry at all. People say that dry is fine, but then my old man's ferrets used to live to the age of 9 on bread & milk.. Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Buy my dry in 15kg sacks from local factory for £16, split it between four of us, ferret rabbits in the season, shoot and snare the rest of year, so always got some fresh rabbit in most of the time, good for a stopgap if no fresh rabbits are available. Malt 379
My Ferts Are As Healthy As Any Rabbit Fed Fert IMO. I'd bet they're not matey. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one Gilly mate. Quote Link to post
jayjay 264
i've been feeding mine on j.wellbeloved dry food for a few years they do alright on it,but they dont seem to be keen on eating meat now, if i put a rabbit in they have a bit of a pull on it but dont seem to be interested in eating it and the same goes for a pigeon, which means it all goes to waste, this seems strange to me because if i had the choice of meat or dried food i know what my choice would be,also i personally think that they dont work the same as flesh fed ferrets they dont seem so keen, just my opinion. lawrence 657
i'm sure they do alright on it but its not for me, i wouldn't feed my dogs dry food, so same applies to my ferrets. Quote Link to post

ace32 4
my ferts eat it,my new hob loves dry food, but gets fat on it,i mix a little bit in with their minced rabbit, but they prefer meat and dont end up fat,and are fit as out,ian Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
My experience of feeding dry food as a staple was the ferrets were eating al the time & were fat & lazy , slept when they wernt eating , played rarely all they seemed to want to do was scoff 2 of the hobs i had were so overweight they had ruffs round there neck of fat , they both quickly lost weight & started to interact a lot more when the weight when down once i changed there diet to raw meat only Quote Link to post
droid 11
Mine are fine on dry. Can't say they're better or worse than all meat fed ones, but they are pretty active and not fat. Quote Link to post
