I have my bitches spayed before their first season as after reading all the facts for and against, i opted for before. It has never been a problem to any of them.

If she hasn't come in after 2.5 years, i cant see it being a problem with getting her spayed now.

Just a question: why get her spayed? Yes, I know that there will never be any chance of unwanted pups, but there is also the risk of urinary incontinence (supposedly increased risk if the bitch is spayed before her first season as the vulva is not mature: waterworks science!)

It can also adversely affect the temperament of some bitches, particularly in a multi dog household.

Some dogs can have "silent" seasons. They will have cycle but there might not be many physical signs. A friends dobe did this. I don't know about the health aspects of delayed season or absent season. Have you asked the vet about it at all?

I had a few botches spayed over the years before their season usually around 7 or 8 months and they were all fine for years.Never seen any reason for them having a season first.

In dobes it is important to allow the female parts to reach maturity by allowing them to have a season for everything to "drop into place" as this can prevent them going on to being incontinent after spaying. There are also some interesting articles around that go into more depth about the pluses and minuses of neutering males/females.

I like to let my bitches mature now 1rst and truely believe if they get a chance to "grow up a bit" they learn dog behaviour and how to behave properly a lot easier.Neutering too young can lead to boistrous and silly and immature behaviour for the rest of its days.I know a few bitches who didnt come into season till after two and where fine.I cant see any issue with you speying her now though it may well be a good idea cos if things arent working the way they should might be best to get her done for peace of mind
