jagd 0
What a load of dog sh%t. I am the proud owner of a French bred jagdterrier and she is perfect for my needs (blood tracking deer and a bit of picking up). At 10 months she came 3rd in the best of breed in the Champion de France dog show. She is a working dog bred to hunt wild boar and fox underground I do agree that they can be a bit big for ground work but this does not stop them from hunting fox and badger in Germany or France or the rest of Europe for that matter, in fact the day I picked her up from France her father pulled a fox from a hole. The french are very proud of the fact that they have some of the best hunting dogs and the purest blood in the world. They are still allowed to hunt with dogs which is more than can be said for us. I can't wait for my next trip to France in October where you can still hunt as we once did here. One more thing none of the jagdterriers I have ever known have had a problem with other dogs. waidmann 105
what are the terrier men scared of? the jagd terrier is an excellant ALL ROUND working dog,in no way any different in agression towards people than any other terrier in the right hands. yes they are pretty tough dogs( they have to be as they are bred to hunt quarry that can and will defend its self admirably). i would like to point out that the jagd terrier was bred out of fox terrier stock(+ some manchester terrier before he became so lightly built) they were bred to be very hard and FIND with a drive that i have yet to see in other breeds. that they are often too big to go to ground i cannot agree( have you guys seen the heide terrier,a jagd terrier with a massive chest.bred to hunt game above ground on moors, where he is not required to go to ground). i have connections to jagd terrier clubs in germany where i trained my teckel. breeders of proper terrier( wire, smooth).if you want a terrier pm me and i can get you a price, breeding etc. they have the reputation for not being too bright.i would suggest it is because they are relentless( to the point of exhaustion and death). hard dogs for hard work. p.s. they make excellant blood trailers because of there will to find. atb Quote Link to post

tinytiger 840
Does anybody in ireland have/work jagd terriers.I saw one advertised in buy n sell a few years back ,never enquired about it.Ive never seen one in the flesh. Also maybe some members from eastren europe could tell us about the field trials over there.what is required? is it a good game test for a dog?.Genetically they are probably very similar to some strains of fell terrier, just been seperated by geography and function? for 90 odd year.Maybe they would be a good cross over a small patterdale bitch. The Breeder 156
Yea they seem like great terriers, but u should get a pat first, They seem to be the business! We were at a problem fox today and my 9month bitch pulled it to the surface. This is my first pat so not sure if this is normal? I useally work JRT i have a good pat bitch here and a couple of decent black dogs 2 red fells and a russell pup im just looking to expand my horizions Just get another normal breed then if you fancy expanding instead of messing with forgien breeds. Nout wrong with the breeds we got. I dont think there is any need for the jadg over here WELL SAID LAD Quote Link to post
