JAGD TERRIERS

Recommended Posts

I am with you there OldNog, there is absolutly no reason why anyone in the UK would need a DJT, although I am English I have lived in Holland for many years now and all my hunting is done in Holland,Germany, and Belgium, with the occasional trip to Blighty thrown in. My opinion of the Jagd Terrier is that it can be used on Wild Boar and it is good at that, very good, but for earth work they are in my mind to mental and are always being damaged and cost a fortune in vets bills. No, aaron01, I would say that if you want a Jagd go first to Germany or Serbia or Croatia and see them work first, then I think that you would agree with what OldNog and myself are saying.

rgds Dave.

i have done a bit of reserch on these and i think this is excatly what we need with the amount of dirt and show stuff bein bred for nothing more than money and no other reason what harm would it do to to import one of these and breed down from it at least i would know what i have

if you know where to look then there is pletny good enough stuff around. what good is adding an overly hard, big and notoriously uninteligent dog, to our already good enough dogs?! You get looked at funny if your terriers over here have a few marks....can you imagen the looks you would get walking a constantly beat up jagd?

The genuine folk stay well clear of the show rubbish, you just got to know who to ask.

The jagd has no place working in this country in my opinion

the way things are at the minute im afraid to ask anyone to sell a pup with the amount of antis tryin to set decent terrier men up i have tryd buying in from a line of well known black dogs well it was supposed to be anyway i put my heart and soul into raring it and all i was left with was an empty pocket and a dog not worth talking about it seems that the once well known breeds are now all bred for show or for money and any decent working stuff being bred are not advertised so how does a young terrier man like me get a decent line of stock with out buying from abroad

you already got sum dogs why not bread from the ones that make the grade bring them on and so on and so on at least you will know wots in the genes

i personallu would love a jagd but im leaving the country so no point

they are very hard terriers from what ive found out which isnt always the best thing but for the people that like something abit diffrent and want a challenge they are just the trick

i do agre with oldnog there is a risk of them being bred by idiots that will have a huge price tag and are unproven but this will just result in them going to non working homes as any terrier man who is stupid enough to buy such a dog over the proven lines they have here should be hunting terriers in the first place

if they had such problems they wouldnt be so popular all over europe so i guess they must be pretty good at working for so many to have them as there working terriers over on the continent

il ship one over to africa and then i can have some real fun

i also think there is no chance of them taking over or ruining the english breeds there are far to many traditionalists and tbh they arent gunna be any better at working than any breed here might even help some lines out because of there sheer gameness and prey drive?

i agree with worker to worker its the only way but the problem with a working terrier club is you never get peace to run a show the first sign of a terrier with a mark on it you would be reported for crullety

its all right giving them a wide berth but these people go and make it there buisness to give hunters a hard time they go to dog shows and dress in old army trousers a pair of wellies and walk a dog they have hidden cameras that record everything so if you have a dog with even a scar on its leg before you know it your done for crulety i for one wouldnt even take a dog to a show on the rare occasion that i would be at one

It seems to me that you overact. Jagd terrier is no different than any bull type of terrier, in terms of aggression towards other animals and people, of course with proper work.

They are all round terriers and not to big for earth work.

Does Jagd terrier belong to UK? That’s another story…

P.S. Excuse my English
