iamdrglass 15
When did the APBT get banned there? Why ? What were the circumstances that lead up to the ban? Was it because the media considered the " fighting dogs" or was it irresponsible owners? Just curious, because there is a lot of people here in the states that would like to see the same thing happen. There are already towns that have ordinances against them or have major restictions. What would your guys advice be to stop the antis here? Thanks Dan Quote Link to post

iamdrglass 15
Thanks for the reply. All though I don't own one I don't want a person that is responsible owner not to have one. I can just see that in the future that the bull breeds here could have major restictions just like you say from the "media hype". Every few months we have major news stories talking about "attacks" from "pitbulls" we never here about the labs or the other friendly breeds that maul the children. Good Day Dan Quote Link to post

Good Day Dan Media hype fueled by some high profile cases of pit bulls tearing lumps out of people, over here they were snapped up by drug dealers and other choice specemins of 'humanity' they were paraded around sometimes without leads on and encouraged by their masters to attack any lesser breeds left tied up out side shops. We've got American bull dogs here now, so we can play spot the difference! Quote Link to post

glamour 1
I think it's jack russells that statistically cause most bites now isn't it? Before i was born my dad was a milkman, needless to say he hates them to this day. And about the pitbulls, get rid of them and in theory no accidents (shame). Like hand guns, in america everyones got one that's why more people die in a day there than they do here in a year. Quote Link to post

lofty 0
http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news..._says_rukhsana/ The APBT was an easy target as there were relatively few compared to other breeds that had attacked and actually killed. Only a short time before the attack on Rukhsana Khan, two Rottweilers had killed a girl. Despite the pleas by her parents, the Government did nothing, yet after an attack by an APBT, in a knee jerk reaction, rushed through the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. In the original DDA four breeds of dog were banned. 1. APBT. 2. The Japanese Tosa. There was one in the UK at the time. 3. The Dogo Argentino. None in the UK. 4. The Fila Brasileiro. None in the UK. My advice to those wanting ANY breed banned in the USA, would be to look at what a shambles the DDA has been and still is in the UK after more than 17 years. Breed bans don't and never will work. Since the ban, dog attacks have continued and increased year on year. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Quote Link to post

Hepher 86
IT WAS A MIXTURE OF DIFFERENT REASONS. THERE WERE A FEW INSTANCES OF PPL GETTING BITTEN AND I MEAN A FEW, THEN THERE WAS THE PRICKS THAT WANTED TO LOOK LIKE A PROPER GANGSTA WITH THEIR TUFF MEAN LOOKING DOG, AND OF COURSE THERE WAS DOGFIGHTING TAKING PLACE, PUT ALL 3 TOGETHER AND WE GOT OUR DANGEROUS DOGS ACT.
