dj.chapman 0
Hi there all. i have just started up ferreting again and have not done it since i was a kid when i use to use a harness and a nylon cord. i am now saving up to buy a ferret finder as i refuse to use that method ever again. my question is................. do i buy a brand new mk3 or a second hand mk1. i have a good few months to save but i am one of those people that want everything right now. can anyone that has had both please tell me the pro's and con's of both please so i can make an informed decision. thank you for your time Quote Link to post
stubby 175
if you could afford it, would you rather buy a brand new car, with warrenty, or a secondhand rust bucket with no chance of repair thats my opinion, the mk1 was and is a good unit, but getting hold of a good non used unit, is like finding rocking horse poo, much better to get a mk3 that you will have a warrenty on, click the link at the bottom of my reply, to watch debens u tube clips on how to use the mk3 correctly, you wont be dissapointed Quote Link to post

dj.chapman 0
yeah i looked on ebay, everything on there is going for silly prices, thats why i have now gone with the option of a new mk3. got £100 saved in 2 weeks, everything i dont use is for sale and every penny goes in the pot. will soon have it and then can play with it for a few months and get use to how it all works. i'll get the girlfriend to hide it in the garden somewhere and i'll find it. he he she will be useful for once. stealthy1 3,964
Wait until the weather warms up and the undergrowth on your patch looks like the rain forest, then check the price of a MK3m. Quote Link to post

stoaty1 35
I found the Mark 3 took a little getting used to and the noise it produces annoys the hell out of me but you can turn it off and only use it on the final pin pointing stage. Both units are great but getting spares for the Mark 1 is not an option. Quote Link to post
Brimmer 220
I've seen the mk3 in action, and all the talk of creeping around setting nets quietly not making a sound is kicked in the balls by the hell- screeching sound it throws out! The mk 1 is dead and i wonder what the muppets at deben are thinking about changing a tested model, one day, the men holding the patent will see sense and allow the rebirth of something that didn't need changing! I agree with you B the noise is a pain but time & tide wait for no man....nowt wrong with the MK1 but it's just the way it is.You buy a new mobile a week later it's out of date!!!It's took Deben over 25 yrs(ish) to come to the MK3 +(M) so personally i think they've done what's best for the customer in years to come...now stop being a tightwad & get that MK3m bought Quote Link to post
