jigsaw 11,863
I was out yesterday for a session with my ferret and Taz and Samra, got a few rabbits but it seems the excitement was too much for the new Saluki pup.I just hope things improve or Samra and I will be having a falling out.The thing I noticed most is she has selective hearing,I call she ignores me.Then theres the issue with the car..........she hates it I think the pics will explain a lot. here you can see shes really geting into it and in this pic she actually STOOD UP. just thought I'd show it to you again,UNBELIEVABLE OR WHAT this picture explains what i mean, she will not come to the car,if i then walk to get her she walks in the opposite direction, deep breaths are needed here, lol. this pic will give you some idea how far away she stops from the car, bloody annoying i must say.I know someone will say''why not put her on a lead Jigs'',well I cant get her walking on one yet,she screams and vomits if I try to get her walking, even if theres another dog with her.Ive tried to drag her a bit but it doesnt work. But I'll wait, she will be on a lead very soon. richard25 0
Lovely looking dog there mate, it sounds like your on the right track anyway & just remember "patience is a virtue" lol or so i am told but the key thing really is just to stay calm & consistant & if she notices that you are starting to get annoyed & frustrated that will just work against you & it will be more of a fight. Personally i would sit at the front door all day with her just sitting there on a lead or even to start with put a collar & lead around her & just let her walk herself around the house, i understand what your saying about the screeching & vomitting but really screeching is the way she knows she can get out of it & i would imagine the vomitting is from her pulling herself on the lead & just working herself up, but i would difiniatly persist so shes knows theres no getting out of it. Good luck & keep us updated Quote Link to post

fox hunter 53
if you tie here up in the garden somewhere with a chain ust leave her tied for a couple of hours everyday she will get used to the lead very quick Quote Link to post
Doglost Co-Ordinator 4
My salx is a nightmare, never known a dog so aloof, stubborn & bloody minded. Although shes now two, she spent 9 mths running wild so training wise shes a bit behind. I got a soft fabric collar that she wears all the time. Walked her on slip lead when first caught her- just short walks around street, then built up on it. I still use a harness- sounds daft but when shes tearing round like a flaming loony she doesnt do herself any damage. Her recall is questionable to say the least. But we do everythin with play or treats & shes getting better. Ive never known a dog like them but so worth the work. Watching her running flat out is worth all the hours Ive had to put in to be able to get her back- as long as nothing more interesting takes her fancy. (It was a terrier yesterday that got pinned down & shook- owners fault- its gone for them before & this time they were all off the lead. Dont think it will torment them again) There's some fab looking ones on here. Quote Link to post
