Yes mate if its going to become a dwelling area,theyv'e gone f......g crazy with insulation,eec rules now.

You will probably have to take some of it up.Those days have long gone.

He could make you take some up to look , not worth it for what it will cost and with it being a wooden floor you will need airbricks in the external walls[stops dry rot]

so it would help to keep the bills down,we pay about £4 per sq m for it,the stuff that comes on the roll not batts.

thanks digger looks like ill have to put kingspan inbetween my joists :angry:

Any builders im converting the garage the floor needs raising about 400mm im gonna do this with 6x2 joists the thing is do i need insulation in between the joists to pass building regs ?

 

if your raising the floor by approx 400mm , a 6x2 joist will only raise you 150 mm plus 18mm flooring = 168mm :blink:

dont stuff it with insulation leave an airflow gap to the under side and you would be cheeper to use glasswool and netlon than kingspan but if you do use kingspan use a knife to cut it instead of a saw just cut it from both sides and snap it ,that keeps thedust down a bit , you could even use foiltec and just run it over the joists but it dose cost a bit mate
