lurchergrrl 1,441
Well it's nearing the end of the Easter break. Those of you with kids will sympathise when I say I'm dangling from the end of my very last nerve and looking forward to them going back to school and nursery next week! Can't stand being cooped up with the sprogs for much longer. So I got the kids up early this morning and set off for a family mooch in the woods with the new whippet. This is the first time the pup has been to the woods, so far he's been on lead or running on the school fields. So much for whippets being shivery timid little things. Here's how it went. We had a nice meander, enjoying the weather. The pup was having loads of fun just being a pup. The lurcher is ... well, looking at them this way it makes you wonder if other people can see why you like them so much Got to the pond and he was interested in whatever the wet stuff is Next thing I know, there's an almighty splash and the pup is gone He surfaced in the water, took himself for a nice little swim. I was proper crapping it - he's 12 weeks old, that water is freezing, he's a whippet and not supposed to do stuff like that! I start emptying my pockets thinking I'm going to have to jump in after him when he turns round, hauls himself out, shakes himself off and calmly carries on with his exploring. FFS what a panic. I didn't get a photo 'cause I was nearly in tears But this is what he looked like afterwards. Am I bovverd? Not bovverd. I had to keep shouting him out of the cover for fear he'd get lost. He's a fine looking lad And a family shot (courtesy of the camera timer and a well placed stump ) So there you go. There's not all soft, whimpy, shivery little things! Thanks for looking Edited April 17, 2009 by lurchergrrl

I do love getting out with them all. They enjoy it too ... they moan when I say we're going but once we're on the way it's fine - they will walk a long long way, considering they're so young. We had a really nice time today.

lurchergrrl 1,441
Shepp she's an ace dog - just looks a bit barmy with them ears of hers And yes he's a bold little fella all right, forward and curious and not easily frightened if his swimming episode is anything to go by! Got the whippet from Ireland Bird, working bred, Nimrodel lines. Edited April 17, 2009 by lurchergrrl
