Lucher dog with 1 testicle dropped

Recommended Posts

I have a 3 year old lurcher dog who has only 1 testicle dropped! the testicle can be seen in the groin area! All the vets i have spoken to say they have to take both testicles out, does anyone know of another solution??

ive always known if one stays up they need removing. they need to drop to stay at the correct temperature. leaving one inside can harm the dog. testicular cancer e.t.c

no need to have both testicles removed but the addvice would be to have the one that hasnt droped removed

ther is a stronger chance of cancer and it is not recomended to breed with the dog as this problem is genetic

vets tend to have a policy of removing both as its a condition that can be passed on and they take both to definetley ensure it doesn't breed.

However my advice would be wary of vets who get over excited when taking a puppy for its jabs...it can take a while for them to drop but they should drop before the dogs about 6 months old...........some vets try and use monorchidism as a way to get the dog neutered and make more money! and they identify this condition in young dogs that are still dropping their nuts in an attempt to make more money etc...

All the vets i know advise castration for many reasons.. cancer ..aggression .. non stud ....to make more money seems a bit outlandish ..you know a skint vet who drives an old banger.... i sure as hell don't
