Quasar 1
Wasnt sure where to put this but here goes, ,,., Does anybody have any blurb or images showing the potential general trajectory patterns for .22 and .177 Air Rifles. I have tried google but most searcheas are for photobucket whicha re broken. I have a Gamo Shadow RSV .22 and may upgrade to a BSA Super 10 .177 Ill be mainly shooting Rabbits. Thanks. Thanks. try downloading Ian Pellants software (google ian pellant) and you can do your own comparisons. It will ultimately depend on what pellet / gun/ power you are shooting but graphically (apart from chairgun) it's the easiest software to use.
digger63 3
You could have to write a book to answer that properly, lol A few things you will find useful i think, .22 at 12ft lbs has a quite big trajectory, obviously it has higher kinetic energy than .177 but is nowhere near as accurate,.177 trajectories are quite tight even at 12ft lbs and scientific studies have shown that .177's are at their most accurate at bang on 11 ft lbs[nobody knows exactly why though] all rifleing is different and can effect performance not all pellets suite all barrels, its a case of trying different types for different barrels, BSA barrels dont have tight bores ussually and are pretty similar to wheirauch barrels, which in .22 are somewhere near 1 full twist in 14" .177 wheirauch are about 1 full twist in 12". Some barrels are choked Anschuitz for example, this can also affect things slightly. The record for most rabbits shot with one airgun is well over 5,000 last time i heard, the gun is a .177 low powered target rifle [not sure which make/model]but its over a long time,a farmer i think. If your main quarry is rabbits a .177 barrel and heavy pellet combination is what i would go for,one pellet that isnt barrel sensetive is bisley magnum and they are the heaviest .177 generally available, thats probably a good starting point. hope this helps.
