woollyback 0
While out wildfowling season gone I had an incident with my semi auto, on a morning flight I shot a goose, and there was a very loud (louder than usual) bang after I pulled the trigger, the goose fell stone dead but after lowering my gun I found one of my 3 1/2" gamebore shells stuck in my action completely mangled. Cut the long story short, the bang had sheared a piece of my action clean off Obviously I was very concerned to contacted BASC and their experts examined my gun and ruled out a faulty cartridge, it'd had been a fault with my gun which is/was and escort (I know there at the cheaper end of guns but thats all I could afford as I had a part time job while studying at college) The experts findings were "The problem was caused by wear to the locking wedge and the corresponding cut out in the barrel. This means that the gun will fire when the bolt is not fully home and locked" My question is, how would I stand confronting Escort? Would I have any chance of a refund? Or am I just going to be left out of pocket? Cheers Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
Gather each and every piece of evidence you have and take legal advice A fault like that could easily have maimed or killed you and anyone standing near Escort will kill someone one day and the Proof Houses and Escort need to realise that. shottyscotty 3
my escort is still going strong and if that happened to me i would go mental at them for putting me in danger and demand a replacement or moneyback and would want somthing for the hassle Quote Link to post
woollyback 0
BASC are sending my gun back to me along with a written description of the problem plus the experts conclusion. Should I go back to the gun shop where I bought it and sort it through him or should I contact Escort direct myself? I forgot to mention earlier, I have had the gun almost 2 years would this reduce the chance of a successful challenge? Edited April 15, 2009 by woollyback Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
Whether you have had the gun for five minutes or five years makes no difference at all as long as it has been well maintained I wouldn't expect the cheapest Baikal to have that damage after 50 years of use with the heaviest of shells Quote Link to post
