Hi from you regular pigeon shooters . As i am new to this sport just bought a escort magnum semi auto shotgun but it has 5 chokes with it , which one would be the best for shooting pigeons. I am using the usual magnet and decoys ( advice please ) much appreciated

there'll probably be a good few disagree with this but I virtualy used 1/4 and 1/2 for everything! the only time I changed my chokes was when I was asked out skeet shooting ....

Its funny as I was talking a good while ago to a guy with a fixed choke game gun <Cylinder and Improved> He mentioned to me if he wants to fill his pattern he'll go up a couple of loads to say a 32 or 34 Gram and perhaps down a shot size to put more pellets in the circle...

I would use 1/4 choke. My o/u has 1/4 and 1/2 more or less all the time. Are you sure the farmer/landowner approves of plaswads? A lot these days insist on fibre wads only, on their land. There is probably a fibre version of your Kent cartridges, I know the 28 grm clay load is very good.

Hi,

if I am decoying then I will have either skeet or 1/4 choke in if out shooting rough then either 1/2 or 3/4 and coast shooting Geese then either 3/4 or full depending on if I have to use steel shot.

the difference is the ammount of pelets in the circle at the same distance have a look at the link then you can see the difference with the skeet choke you will have a larger pattern at a closer range and with the full choke you would have the same pattern but at a further range.
