couldnt tell ye what sort of trout it is was trawling for pike with about 30/40 meters out. The trout was released due to stricked rules in the pike competition :sick:

Hi Patdahat if i was you i would stick to your plugs and trolled dead-baits,you can tell just by looking at the teeth of a ferox that it is cannibalistic.

ferox trout dont get big by eating little flies! try a deadbait trout trawled much the smae way you would trawl lures!

it had surley and a head like a bullock, didn't take that long only about 10min max, often had a smaller salmon on for longer.

was that at the 2 day pike match on key last weekend, i heard this was caught and was there another caught around 7lb, most years this match throws up some good trout, same as the festivel on lough ree at lanesborough i saw a trout released a few years ago in a match there that weighed 15lb 3oz taken on a big trolled deadbait

the rules on most pike matches now state that trout have to be returned or you will be disqualified was that the case there pat

that was the 2 day match on key to be sure and it does hold a few nice ones around this itme of year, but thats the rules in that compo anyway all trout to be returned dont know about any others
