Because they were not made by the "experts" I make my own using 1mm galvanised wire which works a treat, I catch just as many as using traditional brass but would not put photos up or write about it becuase you would be riddiculed and belittled.

I DONT THINK SO DO YOU NOT THINK ALL THESE OTHER MATERIALS HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED BY US ;)

WE HAVE TRIED AND TESTED ALL KINDS OF WIRES  GRANTED YOU MAY CATCH THE ODD RABBIT BUT HOW MANY OF THOSE SNARES HAVE BROKE OFF AROUND A RABBIT THIS 1MM GALV WIRE JUST CAN NOT STAND UP TO THE HEAT CAUSED WHEN A RABBIT DANCES ABOUT :( BRASS WIRE IS STILL THE BEST WIRE FOR CATCHING RABBITS FULL STOP. SO FAR IN NUMEROUS TESTS ONLY ONE OTHER MATERIAL WORKED AS WELL AND EVEN THEN BRASS WIRE WAS STILL INCORPORATED IN THE SNARE ,THE WHOLE POINT IN USING A PROFESSIONAL SNARE IS TO CATCH A RABBIT AND HAVE IT CLEANLY DISPATCHED OR DEAD IN THE WIRE NOT RUNNING AROUND WITH SOME OTHER MATERIAL STILL ATTACHED TO IT CAUSING NARCROSIS AND AN AGONISING DEATH. BE PROFESSIONAL AND USE THE PROPER TOOLS FOR THE JOB .

To be honest the 6 strand brass rabbit snares are by far the best available, and most easy to work with, the americans don't really use brass they use the various aircraft cable for most snaring from rabbit/mink/fox/coyote etc from 1mm upto 3-4mm etc but they do not have the rabbit numbers we have, can you imagine pissing about with 100 galv rabbit wires, yes they will work, just like lots of other methods, ie how many people probably still use hazel tealer rabbit snares they work still but we have better tools available i.e the figure 4 tealer, which allows swiveling and doesn't spilt over time like hazel...

Them microlocks will work both ways as i've tried myself, but end of the day they are designed as a locking snare eyelet... Given the choice I'd rather use glenns rocking eye style eyelets... Pegandgun was snaring foxes with a basic open loop and glenns style over the years hes snared a lot of foxes... but the rocking eye allows for the wire to be splayed..a lot less lost foxes..

Anyway looking at the post them tealers posted will catch rabbits but will they swivel??? The pegs are huge. the figure 4 is oversized... Given the money I'd buy from woodga hes here on the site, and makes quality snares.. why bother with the likes of ebay which is a jungle of crap at best of times...

And what is quicker than a brass wire for attaching to fences, tealers, cost, resetting... theres a reason its used by so many here in Britain...

the way the snare is attached on that fox wire the loop allways pulls open even when the snare is loaded to fire fast.

this method will work but you will lose foxes due to the fact that the loop all ways relaxes towards the original shape especially when a deer stop set at 9 inches has been added. been there bought the tea shirt ;) the only way to use these eyelets the correct way is to modify the small hole by drilling out with a larger drill this is what snareman myself and peg &gun have been doing for years ;)

I thought locking wires were a no-no, Ian? Or am I talking about something else entirely?

Yes locking snares are illegal OTC, no I've not used them at all, but as woodga says they can be made into a small relaxing eyelet with minimal effort and are super fast..
