Hedge_hunter27 18
Had a trip out to a local farm on Saturday night and took team Nipper and Tess. Little did we know the farmer had yet again been re-arranging things. We went to the first barn as usual and there was a few rats in there but the dogs couldn’t get in so we moved around to the cow byre. There was about 4 rats in there but one managed to escape out of the door and down a drain , the other 3 never got that far and ran into the steam cleaner. The rats were coaxed out and after a few minutes of sliding up and down the byre in slurry the dogs did well . We went back around to the first barn for another look but a calf had escaped it’s pen and was running around winding all the rest of them up  so we put the dogs back in the pick up. We had a right laugh trying to get it back in it’s pen but we managed in the end :11: , had one last scope around and there wasn’t many rats about after all the commotion so we called it a night :lazy: . pointer 543
i always enjoy my ratting regardless of how many are caught(though i wish we had more ratting). rats are also brilliant for giving any dog something to hunt but especially the young and the older ones. Quote Link to post
