A couple of woodies from today.

One of the downsides (aside from the incredibly bad pay ;)) of being a pest controller is that you have to do things like be on call on Easter sunday!

I had a call come in yesterday afternoon from a Homebase store saying that there was a pigeon flying around the shop. Obviously, not much I could do about it on saturday afternoon, so I made arrangements to take care of it first thing this morning. I arrived, expecting a feral pigen or collared dove, but was pleasantly surprised to see a woodie sitting atop a kitchen display! To be honest, I nearly managed to get hold of it with my hands, but just before I could grab it, it flew up into the rafters. R10 cocked, shot fired, pigeon dead before it hit the floor. Customer happy.

Called into a bit of permission I have on the way home, where I've been shooting plenty of rabbits lately. It's just a paddock really- the owner is a friend of mine, and I do the pest control in his house and round his outbuildings in return for permission to shoot and ferret in his paddock. When I arrived, there were plenty of rabbits around. Unfortunately, the paddock is surrounded on all side by public land- a hockey pitch at one end, football pitches on one side, and a loch and picnic are to the other. One chap seemed to be taking far too much interest in what I was doing, walking round all sides watching me. Well aware of one or two disputes that the owner has been having recently, and to avoid unnecessary confrontation, I decided that my best course of action was to just leave it, so I never got to fire a shot.

Was just setting up to do a bit of paper punching in the back garden this afternoon (it's a new gun, the novelty hasn't worn off yet!) when a couple of woodies landed in my apple tree. Took one of them with a neat head shot.

Here they are.

I was at a barbeque at a freinds and whas so suprised at how close the woodies came! the person i was at the barbeque with was veggie and even though her husband has a hw97k with an FAC ox spring in it she didnt let me shoot one of them for the BBQ! its a completly different story in my garden, you cant get within 30 yards of them before they fly away!
