mad al 146
well depression does have it's uses, like John I handed over/sold everything when I got to thinking about this illness and have to say I am better off for doing it, feck the hassle and the expense. Now I am on a fairly high dosage of meds, but just one of these tabs ground down and mixed with honey has no end of uses with vermin control , so I've been told Quote Link to post
Guest Catcher
I'm not really bothered it's the principle of them taking it away, I used to do a lot of rough shooting then when i lost my permission I took up clay pigeon and joined a few clubs, i wanted to keep onto it incase i got more permission, I now have more permission than i have ever had in my life but quite more than happy working with just ferrets and dogs, might get myself another air rifle and go back to my roots popping of bunnys and pigeons on a nice evening anyone got a BSA supersport for sale LOL Hi John Your right it is the principle But this goverment make up new rules as they go along. And who are we the common people to judge then ? They forgot a long time ago who they work for.As long as this country and people take it .This goverment will give it big time. atb.catcher Quote Link to post
mattydski 560
John...just a thought, are you a member of BASC? They should be able to help if you are... I think by the very nature of your 'objective' response, it is obvious you pose no threat, and if you work your way through it, I am sure that you will get it back very soon. Best of luck to you.. Just try not to loose the head with them, it will only give them more ammunition to keep it.. Matty Quote Link to post
SUNDAYBAIN 19
To Doctors It is possible that the police may contact you and ask you to provide factual details of my medical history, The Home OFFICE has advised that that is all they may ask and that is all they have my signed authority for. They may under no circumstances have access to my medical records nor are they to ask you for an opinion on my suitability to posses firearms. The Home Office has also said that the police should only need to contact doctors where there are genuine concerns about an applicants health and that, if there is a charge for supplying the information. it must be paid by the police. Beechessam 0
Get in touch with BASC. The police have a duty of care towards you and the public, but depression on its own is not a valid reason to revoke a certificate. They will probably tell you they are investigating your suitability, demand to know a time scale for the investigation and that you intend to fight for the return of your cert. The terms of a cert say that the police must be satisfied that you do not represent a risk to public safety. If as you say there is no issue then you are entitled to your ticket back. As you say it is the principle. Quote Link to post

cbw 4
As some of you know I work for the Ambulance service and I have been to far too many suicides involving shotguns, I actually think its a good thing that the police do this. I have suffered depression, (Too many dead children) But I now have my cert, give it time and reaply. The reason the police sent the firearms unit is because they are the only ones who will touch a shotgun! They were not going to tazer you! CBW Quote Link to post

I sold up when i lost my permission and bought a beretta 686e as my lanber sporter was crippling me on clay pigeon shoots, I then sold my guns and car and spent all the money on carp fishing equipment and a nice laptop, but wanted to keep certificate just incase Quote Link to post
