welshboy454 3
Has anyone any experience of a Britanny Spaniel. As I am getting older following my springer working close by is not so appealing as the thought of letting a dog range as the video below shows and then ambushing the game when the dog finds it. lewismac1 1
A Britanny spaniel "Point's" to game, but it can do the same job as a springer. "pointing" is very hard to teach and is very important to get a pup from the right line's so that it become's instinct and is easier to teach. They are cracking little dog's with big heart's. In the second video, if you want your dog to pin wild boar and such you can wave goodbye to your dog pointing, Quote Link to post
kiwi 4
it is not a case of teaching more a case of instinct as far as pointing goes, they don't need to be taught. they will still work feather after playing with pigs Quote Link to post

They used to be difficult (last time i tried) to get hold of in the norht of uk and fairly dificult even down south. but i suppose since the intro of the mutt passport may be easier to get hold of over here. JohnHod 0
I've now got two Brittanys, having always had springers before. I think they are great dogs to work, provided you give them the right type of work to do. I haven't found them particularly difficult to train but they are slower to mature than springers so it just takes longer. If oyu want any more info on the breed try http://thebrittanyforum.myfreeforum.org/ loads of info on there (don't call them brittany spaniels though or they'll probably string you up :D Quote Link to post
