6br/17rem 0
hi,im getting a new cz .22lr ,does anyone have any suggestions on make of ammo type for rabbits, cheers, mark buy a box each of a few different brands of subsonics and whichever brand groups the tightest they are the boys for you . i would also suggest that providing you have somewhere safe to do it,you set out a few targets at various realistic distances and learn where to put your crosshairs at these distances for a killing shot.cheers chap Quote Link to post

morgan the moon 0
hi,im getting a new cz .22lr ,does anyone have any suggestions on make of ammo type for rabbits, cheers, mark I have a CZ 452 16" in .22cal, always found Winchester and Eley subsonics super accurate and the Winchester in the high velocity very good. Deker 3,478
CCI subs always chamber tight in my Silhouette but they do shoot ok. You will probably find Eley the best but also probably the most expensive, I have shot loads of different stuff through mine. All I would say is try a few, I use mine as a subsonic tool almost exclusively now and use Magtech 40g HP. Very similar to Winchester, a massive HP and very effective, plenty good enough for bunny bashing. Tried loads of fast stuff in the past and Remington Yellow Jacket HP worked pretty well, I think they were around 32g can't remember, 1500ft sec. Never did find a fast load as accurate as the subs for hunting, but American Eagle 40g Solid (AE5022) is very good in the right situation. Quote Link to post
the Verminator 0
winchester for me, but i have heard good reports about Eley as well, buy as many differnet brands as possilbe and see which one shoots the best in your gun. good luck Quote Link to post
chopper28 0
winchester for me, but i have heard good reports about Eley as well, buy as many differnet brands as possilbe and see which one shoots the best in your gun. good luck I found the winchesters had better expantion on impact but less accuracy than the eley,Eley seemed to hold a flatter tracectory meanining less hold over at longer range.but thats out of my cz every rifle is different.i've just got some cci to try and see what happens on targets.atb Quote Link to post
Tobias 0
I have got a CZ452 american with the 16'' barrel and i get on best with Winchester super x hollow points 40grn (subsonic) for me, Ive tried Eley and they were slightly louder and more greasy on the bullet head which can make the bolt stiffer to use when out in cold/ wet weather and they are more expensive. Also ive tried remington hollow points they were shocking, bad grouping lots of flyers and the stopping power was no good even had rabbits run after being hit.But if i was you stick with what works well in your gun for you as every gun and person is different.
