i ahve put 5 decoys facing in random directions and in no shape in my garden. i am thinking of atracting some pigeons down to my garden so i can take them with the air rifle. i have scatterd some corn aroud the decoys as well. is there anything i'm doing wrong or anything more i could be doing right?

Check the law mate, that would be the first thing to do, for all this seems an innocent act to carry out pretty certain its a criminal offence, it may seem a bit daft but sure it is. All it takes is a nosey neighbour to shop you to the police. Sure i read recently of someone getting a £1200.00 fine for doing this.

(passage taken from the basc website)

It is also against the law, in England and Wales, to fire an air rifle within 50 feet of the centre of a highway if this results in someone being injured, interrupted or endangered. These offences could be committed, for example, when someone is shooting in their garden close to a road and the pellets ricochet onto the highway.

i am near no motoway and i am shooting undeer the terms of general licesnce as i am protecting crops in my garden (i call it a garden, its more of a field really). all i wanted to know is how to set my decoys!

OK Aaron, I will try another way, if the neighbour reports you to the police and they come out to you what will you say?

What crops are you protecting? what damage has been done ? where is the damage can you show me? Will your answers be good enough under scrutiny?

These are the questions you need to be sure that you can answer before shooting wild birds.

1. my neighbours are cool with me shooting. i even have a neighbour who i supply with game.

2. there is considerable damage to my crops wich i can prove is done by wood pigeons.

3.i am protecting my mums crops as she sells them to a organic resteraunt so wood pigeons are effecting on how much money she makes.

HAPPY NOW? now can someone please tell me how to set my 5 decoys correctly for airgun shooting.

ok this is going too far with the whole meat hygiene test if your not selling them then there is no need for this and as long as he has a reason, witch he does, then he is perfectly within his rights to shoot them. i suggest you try setting them up in a L shape or a U shape but you dont have many decoys so it can be diffecult.

Aaron, why are you so agressive in your response when all I am trying to do is advise you.

If you look at your original post you said shooting in your garden.

I just did not want you to get into bother thats all.

Good luck with the pigeons.
