I agree although, i do consider myslef one of the "young lads" (im 17), if the young people on this forum wish to bikker then is their away of keeping it in the young persons bit of the forum (as long as it doesnt demote our sport/way of life, in which case it should be deleted immeadiatly, same said if they are older), but if they wish to seek advise then i know almost everyone on here will be willing to offer it to them.

also agree its all the same suspects.

I think it was put there (and I am sure ron will correct me if I am wrong) because, if you were to be investigated for shooting pidgeons in your back garden, you reason of "to protect crops" would not stand up against the law as when in your garden they are not damaging any crops.

That I think would be the reason for your quote being included.

Does that makes sense? If not I will try to explain better.

Basically Freddy, yes.

Aaron, I didn't intend this to be all about your posts, they were just two recent examples that came to mind to illustrate my points.

Let me just explain a bit of the law to you, so you understand what my point is.

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, ALL wild birds are protected. Each year, DEFRA issue a general license which allows pest birds to be taken by authorised persons. Pigeons are definitely on this list, but you need to be clear that whenever you shoot any birds other than game birds or wildfowl in season, you're shooting under the terms of the general license, which, to all intents and purposes, says there has to be good reason for you to shoot them.

I'm almost certain that everyone shooting pigeons in their gardens are complying with the terms of the general license, and I do not, by any stretch of the imagination, think that people should stop shooting pigeons in their gardens. I'm merely pointing out that before you post, you should perhaps be a little bit more aware of these things.

I'm very sorry if this seems patronising, that's not intended at all. I freely admit, that when I was your age, I had no idea whatsoever about the general license, but the internet wasn't quite what it is today then, so I didn't have opportunity to make comments like yours.

And yes, shooting pigeons in your garden to protect your vegetables is a perfectly acceptable reason.

You've had two guys offer to help you out through PMs/MSN already in this thread, and you can definitely add me to that list.

Again, I just want to make clear that the purpose of this thread isn't to get at you, it's just to ask the younger members of the forum to take a bit of time to think about what they post.

That's an excellent idea hyperion. Unfortunately not 6 months ago, all my old magazines went to magazine heaven. (Or as it's generally known, the local recylcling centre). I'd certainly be interested to read some of John Darling's articles if anybody can dig some out and take the time to put them up!

 why is all the dirt being dug on me?

cos of your hair

Not being funny hiho, but you are one of the main offenders!

It's high time that things were sorted in here, not just with the younger members either. There was a time when the banter was great in here, it was the best section on the site.

Far too many over opinionated posters in here these days, along with the messers. Manners cost nothing, if you don't agree with something, then fine speak out, but do it in a polite & respectful way.

We're all airgun hunters at the end of the day, and should pull together. Debate is good, silly petty arguing & piss taking is not.

It is not ........ but you have to admit, that with most people here getting the gear up to scratch and spending a lot of money for it at times, then you going the other way and discard the sights that you have on your gun all together is a bit strange.

We should always try to do the best we can and kill as humanely as possible and some sort of sights will help to do that, so taking them of is a step in the wrong direction.

Have a think about it and we can discuss this via PM or MSN if you like. I am willing to take the time for that.

if you find them can you pm me the site please or put it up as a link

Yes you can PM whenever you like RaiderBoy. However I wil say now that I know nothing at all about the triggers on a webley raider so I won't be able to help with that. Maybe it was just that there was no one there to help at the time. Give the thread a bump so people see it and see what answers you get.

Nice one Simoman. I hope this thread hasn't been taken in the wrong way by anybody. My intention wasn't to offend anyone- mods or the younger guys.
