Guest Scuba1
I didn't see the part where he said he had no open sights TBH! True mate. You should never shoot at living quarry without a sights of some sort, I just hope the lad listens to the advice given here. Most of it is good, apart from the piss taking off a certain few members. Its the first post in this thread mate ATB Michael Quote Link to post

hiho 5
Look aaron I am not trying to rain on your parade but do yourself a favour and either leave the sights on there or get a laser and adjust it to the distance you want to shoot, as just immobilising them is not the way to go, even though they are " only " rats, they have to have your respect as a living animal and deserve to be killed as humanely as possible. Just my two pence worth. ATB Michael theyl be dead if he shot then in the head and at 10-15 yards it aint hard Hiho you talk down to Aaron at every opportunity you get and I'm not saying you can't shoot, but your not a trained marksman unlike myself and I'm sure other soldiers like myself on this forum Just give the kid a break will you please. Aaron just put your scope back on because as Scuba1 has pointed out it's better to kill rather than mame ATB Lee... what i never said out rong? and as i said in my other post it takes practice Quote Link to post
Freddy Watts 1
Aaron you need to listen to Timelord and Scuba. They know what they are talking about and you do need to put a scope or some other form of sight on your gun in orger for you to be as humane as possible. Even shotguns have a sight on them and they have a much wider kill radius than the 5.5 or so mm of your airgun pellet (assuming .22 here obviously .177 is even smaller). So please heed advice and make sure your prey does not suffer needlessly. ATB Freddy Quote Link to post
Guest Scuba1
There is another downside of hitting a rat in the wrong place and that is that they can scream and warn the rest of the gang and then your ratting session may well be over before it got going. So by doing it the right way you will have a bigger bag at the end of the day / night. HTH Michael Quote Link to post

Ron Weasley 83
I Use Open Sites On My Gun And I love Them , I Can Head Shot Ducks, pigeons rabbit Owt lol Open sites are fine Wolly, but the BSA Lightning has no open sites at all. And shooting ducks with an airgun? Assuming you're doing it in season and with the landowner's permission, then technically you're doing nothing wrong, but it's not the generally accepted thing to do. Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
there are 2 articles on the main site of THL on shooting ducks with airguns so it looks as if it is the accsepted thing to do. Quote Link to post

I'll direct you back to a thread you started last month here and I think if you read it again, you'll see that while it is definitely not illegal to shoot ducks with airguns, provided you have permission and they are in season, it is considered unsporting and not the correct way to go about it. I don't care what's on the main site at all, I'm telling you how it is. Quote Link to post
