Guest caleb
Nice one - I sell mine between £2.50 and £3.50 packed. I pack the small ones two or three to a pack. The crappy ones go the the local hawk conservancy trust for 50p each gutted. That's one hell of a price for rabbits mate.... I catch one or two myself, but its always been a continual struggle to sell them in large quantities... I love my rabbit catching, been self employed at it for quite a few years now, but I've found that the real money is in getting PAID to catch em',..and certainly not in flogging the feckers. Doubt if I'll ever get rich, but its a good life,..and quite frankly, what else could I do All the best,..and good hunting,... ChalkWarren... are you as old as the picture mate? no offence meant, but if you are you'll know that the rabbit prices haven't gone up much over the years, or have they in your area? in Worcestershire they have hovered around a quid or so for years! Guest rabbiter
I too make my living from full time pest control,I have a contract to sevice 150 farms plus I also vist other farms out side my alotted area.I base my charges on a hourly rate ,but I realised a long time ago that one must do a better job and be better at the job than the farmers mates ,bother or brother inlaw ,that may be willing to do the same job for nothing .One must also have a range of good plant that will get the job done and this doesn't come cheap.Perhapes the first thing one needs is the pests for a start and then them to be in high numbers so they are a real pest THEN people are THEN willing to spend money on controling thoses pest ....someone got to do it ....remember the hourly rate is the SAME rate for every job as the word soon gets around that you have charged someone this rate and another a different rate. When I was younger ,I took on a pest control job at a duck farm .The owner was loaded ,the rats plentiful and we settled for a pound a rat -against my mentors advice at the time -Too cheap he said.We arrived on the stated day when they were to move the ducks out of one shed ,ready for a new crop .We turned over the dung with forks and let the terriers kill the rats.We were well into 200 plus when the owner poked his head around the door and asked how we were getting on."200 my god" was the reply to which Frank said "we'd better stop then" .The owner looked around and saw we'd only done a quarter of the shed and couldnt bear to think of all the remaining rats left to go up into the roof to terrorise the new duck crop .Frank took him aside and agreed a total price of £350 which when told ,I was annoyed at but I darent cross the old man! . We ratted on until we'd done it all and killed 470 odd.350 were laid out and the rest went on to another farm in the afternoon where the owner was away but paid Frank £45 a session .We laid them out and left. :11: Quote Link to post
devvo 0
since there is a few pest controllers here, if any of you do gas wasp nests, can i ask what you lads do with the nest after you gas it? When me and my dad gas a wasp nest we clean it up and use the cake and grubs for fishing Quote Link to post
Guest ruraltrapper
What do you mean by gas it? Most professional pest controllers use Ficam D for wasp nests, this is a powder that is blown into or around the entrance to the nest. RT Quote Link to post
hound 1
never heard of a wasps nest being gassed in fact i go as far to say you cant. Any way i use ever powder where you can see the wasps entering it could be a hole in the wall or the ground. and if i can get to the actuall nest then i will use liquid. As for the nest i leave it there as the workers that are out and about when they come back to the nest they will then pick up the poison. As for what type of poison i use there is quite a few on the market on my van i must 6 or7 diffrent types makes and active ingredants and in the stores we must have double that amount Quote Link to post
Guest Spike 70
And I would'nt think you would want to put any of them in a lake or river Quote Link to post
