fat man 4,741
Was chatting with a friend earlier who dug over the Sam dog a lot and actually had him in his yard for most of a season along with the Maggie bitch, he told me they were both very good digging dogs, he told me of 1 particular dig that lasted 7 hours and jw was there with them on the day. He also filled me on a load of dogs related to these 2,some blood in them terriers. 2 Quote Link to post

Jo. M 31
U are right chestney im not disputing that. We are looking back when we are talking about Sammy. Any good dog man that has a good dog is giving him the work. I'm more or less saying he was a good dog that was well worked. Nothing got to do with the dogs about now. fat man 4,741
From what I've heard about Sam he was a hell of a digging dog like a lot more that has come and gone and more that are still about. I have seen a lot of good terriers down the years and also a lot of shite that was supposed to be good. I have owned some very good terriers and also had shite and at present have a couple of decent digging terriers. We get out as much as we can in the season with work and all but the dogs see plenty of work which imo makes a terrier. When there hurt they are rested, when fit they are worked simple as and we have friends up a couple of times a season for a day's sport. The patterdale in Ireland is as good now as it was 30 odd years ago, I bought my 1st black dog of pk down in blacklion well over 30 year ago and still keep black dogs to this day, I've had them all, nuttall, Gould, brightmore, and now another mans line which works well for me. Its nice to see these dogs of old especially when you have some of their blood in your own dogs. 12 Quote Link to post
