skinnyrat 0
tie a piece of washing line to his collar, and gently give him a little tug, this has worked for me before,as the previous poster had said, dont walk to him to get the dummy,as your just reinforcing him not comming to you, also,if hes coming to you and leaving the lure behind,it is a good idea to change the dummy to something he likes better, are you using a ball?as i have found a lot of lurchers soon get sick of a ball, try a cuddly toy or a rabbit skin, most dogs natural instinct is to take its prize to its bed,so if you can sit on the dogs bed it may come back a little easier,or use a hallway so the dog cant runabout too much, and never do it too many times, just 2 or three throws a couple of times a day, hope you sort it out, good hunting Skinnyrat Quote Link to post

Vermin Dropper 2
ok so if he leaves the lure in its place but then comes to me should i just walk up and pick it up? im gona try some tomm If you start doing that mate the dog will have trained you So what are you meant to do then? just leave the lure sitting there? you have to pick it up at some point to continue the session. I have this problem at the moment with my 5 1/2 month old pup, I find walking backwards calling her as she comes in helps, then when you stop she should be more or less at your feet, you take the dummy and give loads of praise, (and a tid bit if thats how you train). if she drops it short just pick it up without making eye contact and ignore her for a minute or so, then call her over, get her excited about the dummy again and launch away. thats been working for me anyway, hope you get it sorted mate, Quote Link to post
dickyboy 1
running away and skinnyrats advice work tried them both and they do work!! hope you get there!! Quote Link to post
